Why this petition matters

Students in Boston, MA. district, in grades K-12, are expected to have necessary school supplies for their classes at the start of every year. However, supplies are not cheap, and many families make just enough to cover their mortgage/rent, essentials for their home and families and necessities for daily living, therefore finding ways to come up with the extra money for their child/ren school supplies is tough. Unfortunately, families in Boston make an average of $30,100/year and school supplies for children in grades K-12 averages about $850. Many teachers in the Boston School district pay $451.00 out of their own pockets to supply their students with supplies necessary for learning.

By signing this petition, you will help raise awareness and help Boston School's properly budget their money and allow the money to be dispersed by giving students school supplies they need. This petition raises awareness to the Boston School Committee and Mayor Wu in allocating funds to the public schools of Boston for supplies and will help lessen the financial burden on parents and teachers. The more signatures and support we receive, the more we can advocate for an increased school budget across Boston.
