The School of Mathematics at the University of Leeds has cancelled 16 of the 45 modules for third year students. They have done this before module selection was open to students without contacting students for their opinion or informing us that it would happen.

While we understand that circumstances are strained due to COVID-19, this is an unacceptable course of action to be taken without any input from students. We request all the cancelled courses be reinstated for 2020/2021 teaching year.

Third year modules are incredibly important as they not only give options for students in their final year of teaching a chance to further specialise, but they also increase the quality and range of options for dissertations for integrated masters students.

The full list of modules we request to be reinstated are as follows:

- History of Mathematics
- Graph Theory: Structure and Algorithms
- Philosophy of Logic and Mathematics
- Models and Sets
- Coding Theory
- Commutative Rings and Algebraic Geometry
- Hilbert Spaces and Fourier Analysis
- Linear and Non-Linear Waves
- Hydrodynamic Stability
- Dynamical Systems
- Introduction to Entropy in the Physical World
- Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
- Modern Numerical Methods
- Discrete Systems and Integrability
- Relativity and Cosmology
- Bayesian Statistics
