Schools are punishing kids with after school detention. This is totally unnecessary and punishing parents and other siblings as parents has to wait for their kids to finish their detention after school. By giving after school detention kids can’t do their homework on time and this in return having even more negative impact on kids academic achievement and subsequently on their behaviour. 
also parents have to pick up different kids from different schools and this is a tragedy waiting to happen as one day one of these kids will be injured or even worse be killed after school as parent couldn’t get back to pick up their kids from school and they will be bullied or god forbid stabbed to death. 
Also due to shorter days it is usually dark after school and one of these kids will be run over in the dark.

if you really want these detentions to have an impact than give detention either at lunchtime or break time between classes so they miss out on their play time with their friends and parents and their brothers and sisters are not punished too. 
so please sign this petition for our politicians, Local authorities, schools and school governors to hear our voice and do the right thing and ban after school detention and allow only during school time (ie break time, lunch break) to give detention.
