They have once again canceled our homecoming dance for the 2021-2022 school year. As a future graduate of class of 2023, my first highschool homecoming was the most fun I ever experienced and it was a first look at what the next 4 exciting years of my life would look like. Then we went into the initial lockdown in March of 2020. Due to the Covid cases of last year, they canceled the dance for the 2020 school year as well as this year because our school district is struggling with high covid cases. There has been so much negativity in the world since the Covid-19 Pandemic and as a student we have all been looking forward to the excitement of Homecoming and other traditional events that are part of the highschool experience . We want memories we can look back at and tell our kids what we experienced. In the northwest florida panhandle, the 3 school districts of Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa county, 2 of these counties have canceled homecoming and pep rallies altogether. Class of 2021 never experienced a Senior Homecoming. Class of 2022 and 2023 may not get to experience either. Help bring positivity and excitement after all the negativity we’ve had!!!
