Hi. My name is Annabel Swimline. I am writing this petition for Pembroke Jr/Sr High School to have a school dance for 7th and 8th graders (jr high). I feel like a school dance would help bond students together with a fun night filled with laughter and smiles. Other school districts around us provide a dance for all grades. These other schools seem to have a blast having a school dance for their students. Some may argue that the schools budget will not be able to fulfill the costs for an additional dance for younger students. Well, students could have a fundraiser for tickets, or students could pay a fee to be able to attend the dance. Some people may also argue that lower income families will not be able to pay a fee for their students to attend a dance. Well, students who may not be able to attend the dance due to financial reasons could host a fundraising program to help lower class students attend a dance. Also to help with dresses and accessories, we could have a dress shop like the dress shop that was hosted for prom and graduation. This would also help lower income students be able to attend the dance. In conclusion, I think having a school dance for the jr high would be a great idea! Hopefully this petition will help a school dance be held this year (and many coming years) for younger students.
