The North Andover school committee met February 3, 2022 and discussed the topic of lifting the mask mandate for performers due to the high school’s 80%+ vaccination rate. Two weeks after today, a vote will take place on this subject. This misses the North Andover Drama Guild’s production of “Mamma Mia!” by one week, forcing the students to perform masked. We the students and performers respectfully request for this vote to take place prior to our performance. We feel by not giving us the chance to be impacted by this vote detrimental to our show and all of the hard work we have put into it. By pushing the vote to Monday, February 7, we hope to give these kids the chance at preforming live and unmasked for the first time in two years. Any vote that happens after will be moot, given the fact that there are no other performances scheduled for after the date of the vote.
