Prioritize building walls at South High Community School

It's almost impossible to conceive that school buildings still exist in our country where classrooms don't have walls. The use of dividers makes for a difficult learning environment, especially for those who have learning challenges or are English Language Learners. Despite all of the infrastructural challenges, students and staff at South High have made great strides in improving AP scores, graduation rates, and the number of students who move on to college.

South is a school rich in diversity. It has the largest non-white population of all of Worcester's high schools and the largest number of students with limited English proficiency. This petition is asking our officials to make sure that South does not get left behind when they are preparing their requests for funding from the state. It asks not that building walls at South be done at the expense of other projects, but rather that other project requests in the work are not pushed forward at the expense of South. Worcester is a City that prides itself on the quality of its education and the beacon of opportunity this community offers everyone. Let's make sure that all of our students have access to the same quality education and facilities conductive to a strong learning environment, regardless of their background.
