Educating our children is important. Loading them with stress is not.

If you are a Jewish mom, you know the stresses that come along with raising a Jewish family. From disciplining our children, dealing with their struggles, entertaining them, giving them the love and care they need, bringing in Shabbos, yom tov, keeping a clean and organized house, providing clean laundry, working so we have an income to provide them with their basic needs, shopping, family simchas, and the list goes on. We don't need more to add to our daily stress.

Unfortunately, many of our children's teachers are young and don't realize just how stressful it may be to us mothers. They also don't realize that they're not the only teacher who sends home homework. Parents with large families have to be there to help their young ones, and for most of us--multiple children, with the tremendous amount of homework their kids bring home. The stress in the house mounts. Add to that, children who struggle at school and their mothers sitting for hours trying to help their child. We're trying our best as mothers and there's only so much we can do in one day.

Not only is it stressful to us parents, but to out children too! Think about the stress your child must be going through after a full day sitting in class, and once they come home there's still more work to do, not giving them a chance to unwind. Try sitting in one place for five hours listening to speech after speech. It's hard. Especially for young children who have more energy and spirit than we adults do.

Mothers, for the benefit of our children, spouse, and for all of us jewish mothers, please help us accomplish a very important thing in the jewish home--minimize the homework load!

Let's do this! Let's make this generation as stress free as possible.

Signed,

A jewish mother
