JROTC at Waccamaw High School
JROTC at Waccamaw High School
Why this petition matters

JROTC is a military-managed, extra curricular program, and stands for “Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps”. JROTC was created to offer students the opportunity to step their foot in the door of the military early. You change, experience and learn many things such as…
- What it means to be a leader
- What it means to be an American citizen
- How to serve others
- It instills self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline
- You become aware of your rights, responsibilities, and privileges as an American citizen (which are some things that even some of the most educated adults are unaware of)
And signing up for JROTC doesn’t mean you only take this class if you want to join the military. You can join for that reason of course, however, you can join just for fun, if you want to be a politician, if you want to just learn core leadership skills, or even if you have no idea what you’d like to do as an adult.
The problem at hand is that Waccamaw High School lacks a JROTC class. There is, however, a club. Even still, Waccamaw High School is the ONLY high school in the district without a JROTC CLASS available. So, we need YOUR help in receiving a JROTC class at Waccamaw High School! THANK YOU!
