The dresscode at the Needville ISD districts restrict any individuality a student may have. This dresscode rivals private tuition schools, Inhibiting any male at birth students from having piercings, makeup and or painting nails, and they must have a specific hair length as well as facial hair length. The females at birth are constantly sexualized and shamed for the body they have. The staff at the school tell us "this dresscode is made to teach you to be professional for a job" But these staff members at THIER job dont have to follow this dresscode. They tell us "The district’s dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards, and assert authority." How does this teach us hygiene, does men wearing eyeliner mean they're unhygienic? How are we disrupting class by wearing shorts in the 98 degree Texas heat? So we are asking you, to please sign this petition to reinstate our rights to express our individuality within more reasonable dress code parameters that aren't gender biased and restricting.
