Social studies classes taught in schools such as Ethnic Studies and APUSH only scratch the surface of Asian American history. There isn't enough diversity in the lessons taught. Lack of relevant and accurate information allows ignorance to dumb down a situation. We need to expand the content to connect past events to current events to truly understand one another during difficult times. An example of past to current is teaching the Black Lives Movement, teaching how systematic racism came to be. This allows sympathy and understanding for other students, especially in the classroom.
