At Burns Middle School, the dress code is sexist, like many other schools. I'm Brylee, and I'm here to change that. At my school, we have a semi-strict dress code. No Bandanas, No skirts or shorts above 3 inches of the knee. No midriff, no back, no neck, no shoulder, no chest, no breasts, no tight shirts, and no piercings other than the nose. We are children. Ages 13-18. We should not be sexualized because of our bodies. No, we shouldn't be sexualized at all. SO, SO many girls my age have to deal with the dress code when boys don't. I've never seen a boy get sexualized by shorts, or shoulders, or his knees showing. I've also never seen a female teacher stare at a middle school boys chest, but I've seen the opposite. I'm not doing this because i want to dress slutty, I'm doing this to prove  a point. A point worth proving. At my school, I want change. Girls want change, boys want change, and the teachers don't. At MY School, I want to feel comfortable in my skin, and in my OWN clothes without being sexualized for crop tops, holes above the knees, and my shoulders. It's not the boys who are doing it; It's the male teachers sexualizing us. Maybe the females as well, however it doesn't change the fact that we need change here at my school. And at all schools.
