In my community everyone is very conservative and I am graduating this year. I would like to graduate knowing the black or brown people in my community know someone cares. My school has never done Black History month even though we have black students.The principal here will not allow us to do this in school. I am trying to start small like posters or talks about how African Americans have impacted all of our lives. There are elementary students already saying racial slurs. I am thinking maybe if they knew what these words meant or how these slurs have effected people they would stop using them. I have a mixed family of all types of minority’s and I want to show them I care and that I will bring them some sort of peace. I want to show my siblings someone is here for them and show them I am a great role model.I want to be the change, but I am going to need help.
