I'd like to show proof to the board and head teachers of my school that self-expression via hair colour (and piercings) should be permitted!

It's clear that hair colour and other modifications are valid forms of creativity and, in schools that are now emphasizing mental health, I think that self-expression should be encouraged instead of repressed! It should be encouraged before adulthood, when dying your hair and the like are impossible, otherwise your income could be at stake.

I believe the teenage years are a time where experimentation and expression are crucial, and taking away a form of this could be detrimental.

Despite the excessively strict policies at school, the teachers remain permitted to wear multiple piercings, bright hair colours etc. that the students would be heavily punished for. In some schools, children are put in central exclusion, therefore missing their education, for simply expressing themselves.

I'm calling for this to change because I think that diversity and expression should be encouraged. Introducing teenagers to "extreme" hair colours at a young age will also show how the real world is like when they're older.
