Education plays a big role not only in an individual’s life but also in a country’s economy and development. According to Rick Corsino, “Children are the future of this country. By investing in children’s basic education we are contributing to the country’s development and creating a literate and self-sufficient society.”Unfortunately, according to a research conducted in 2009, around 15 million Filipinos are illiterate (unable to read or write). Our group, the Hope foundation, is a General Santos City-based non-profit organization.

Our goal is to bring hope to Filipinos through developing projects that address poverty and illiteracy. Our latest project, the Paaral Heneral aims to raise awareness concerning the illiteracy rate of the Philippines through creating an online petition with the goal of requesting free scholarships for out of school youth in General Santos City.

Our organization will manage the Paaral Heneral through creating an online petition in Change.org, a Facebook group and a blog. We will also be creating infographics to display all necessary information regarding our project and the need for educational scholarships in our locality. Our project’s scope is to be able to reach school administrators, parents, teachers, and students to sign our petition.

We will be requiring a week for our project development and we will commence the project promotion when all the online sources are established. Our expenses may only include the printing of campaign materials and the internet and computer shop rentals. We will also utilize free services offered by Facebook, Wordpress, and Change.org. Should you have any questions about our project feel free to contact us at hopefoundation@gmail.com.
