One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest written by Ken Kesey is a triggering story. It has many triggering topics including rape, sexual assault, sexualizing woman and racism. As students, we were NOT warned of this ahead of time. Many students including myself have felt beyond uncomfortable reading a story about such tragic events. Along with those topics, it also glamorizes mental illness. In the book, it makes it seem like mental illness is a joke and a huge laugh. When in reality, it’s a daily battle most people deal with which is not a joke. We believe that this book should not be apart of the Lenape Regional High School Districts English curriculum.
