Self-Defense Classes Being Taught at Universities

If students were required to take self-defense courses, I believe there wouldn't be as many acts of violence, sexual assaults, or discrimination against women. Being taught to be aware of your surroundings and how to protect yourself as a woman is very empowering and makes females of all ages feel confident in themselves. Not only does this benefit women, but it can benefit men in teaching them to protect and defend women as well. Men and women need to be educated on how to fend for themselves and one another. These classes have been adopted in foreign countries and have proven to be very effective. In Nairobi, Kenya consent classes are being taught and have been a huge success. Rape has been reduced by 50% and boys successfully intervened when witnessing assault 74% of the time. This could be a great and easy way to educate, inform, and make our society a safer place.
