On Monday, December 6th, 2021, the online submission portal for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards began experiencing technical difficulties. This caused writers and artists in multiple regions to miss their deadlines for submitting pieces and senior portfolios that they had been creating for multiple months, at no fault of their own.

We are appealing with the request that Scholastic extends the deadlines for any regions with deadlines in this time frame or enters into negotiations with the writers and artists to find a reasonable method of submitting work, whether that be by email, the reopened portal, or postal mail. 

Scholastic, we urge you to listen to the voices of talented teen creatives. We hope to see a deadline extension or official statement declaring action within the coming days.
