The Senior Class of South Carolina State University has been told their graduation will be virtual, this is an unfair travesty to these students. Public schools have returned to school face to face. High school, college, and professional sports have returned. High schools have had socially distanced graduations, and SC State has the football team on campus and announced a season. We know how to socially distance. The students do not deserve to have their entire year ruined. We tell our children to work and push strive for the brass ring and to have it snatched away like this is cruel. Last year's students lost the end of their school year, this year's class has lost their entire year. They deserve to walk socially distanced but in person, they have worked so hard for this irreplaceable moment in their lives. I ask President Clark and the members of the board of directors to think back to their college graduation; how they felt, the happiness, the relief, the pride in a major goal accomplished, the finish line, This is their first major achievement in life and if you take it away it's gone for good, they can never get that thrill, pride, or happiness back ever. With these things in mind we ask that you please reconsider your decision.
