SC teachers have not received a pay increase in 3 years. Even though the House and Senate voted to give a 2% raise this year, the governor vetoed it in her line item veto power. The SC General Assembly is returning on Tuesday, July 17, at 1:00, to consider the vetoes and will vote whether or not to override it. There must be a 2/3 majority vote in the House for it to even go to the Senate for them to discuss and vote on it, too. If you have ever been helped by a teacher, now is the time for you to stand up and stand beside teachers. Tell the House and Senate to override this veto as a gesture of gratitude to the teachers who helped you.
