Why this petition matters

This past fall semester SBU opted to shut down Roth Café which was a main source of food for many Roth and Tabler residents as well as students who do not have an unlimited meal plan. Many students had relied on this café as an area to study along side an area to acquire food. Many students have found themselves eating less as having to walk ten minutes one way to either dining hall becomes tedious and gets in the way of classwork during an already time consuming semester. Freshmen especially who are living in Roth/Tabler who are required to pay for the unlimited plan miss out on the initially promised free meal exchange a day that would have come with living so far from the dining halls. For this upcoming spring semester, we suggest the café should open and fix all of these issues. If west and east found ways to open safely then there is no reason Roth cannot. At the very least the dining area should be open for take out. To resolve this, we the students believe admin should allow Roth Café to reopen for the upcoming spring semester. Even if dine in is limited, having the Café open would be extremely beneficial to not only students physical health but mental health as well. Please sign and become a part of the solution.
