It has sadly been announced that Rockwiz will not be returning to SBS Television as they have not commissioned any more episodes. While the show lives on through live shows and on SBS Viceland and On Demand we will not see any new talent the Australian music scene has to offer. Rockwiz has been an institution and drought breaker for Australian content on our screens for over ten years. Apart from Rage, The Set and Rockwiz's short lived rival Spicks and Specks, where else are you going to see what Australia can produce from our own backyard? Like Countdown, Recovery and Rove, Rockwiz provided a haven for local artists to show us what can happen with a whole lot of passion, talent and support...a chance at the spotlight! A majority of local artists will tell you that being on TV gives you attention and an edge that radio and online can't match. Our parents will tell you how they discovered music through Countdown and remember how Recovery and Rove shined a light on our now beloved Aussie bands in their infancy? Look at the ratings the ABC gets during Aus Music Month. The Paul Kelly and Crowded House concerts. The 2018 NYE concert that featured a lot of the Rockwiz Orchestra in the Night is Yours band! Solid proof that putting music on TV is beneficial for both the artist and the public even in the age of streaming services and online media! Please sign this petition to secure a future for local music and content and to keep the ever enchanting Julia Zemiro, ever hilarious Brian Nankervis and the supremely talented Rockwiz Orchestra on our screens! If SBS can't or won't take it back then maybe they could move to the ABC? Remember Margaret and David did back in the day?
