Say YES to Deerspring Park pickleball!

The Deerfield Park District is proposing building 4 pickleball courts at Deerspring Park.

The Deerfield Park District has deferred their presentation to the Deerfield Village Board until more community input is received.

The Deerfield Park District is gathering more public comments on Thursday, February 6, at 7:30 pm, at Jewett Park Community Center. Click here for public comment details.

This is an important opportunity to tell our community leaders that you would like to see public pickleball courts at Deerspring Park.

There is active opposition in Deerfield to the construction of these courts. These residents cite loss of green space and noise as primary complaints. In fact, there are no houses that face the north side of Deerspring Park. Resident opposition killed a proposal for pickleball courts at Jewett Park last year.

What is pickleball?

Pickleball would be a fun, new, outdoor, public activity to add to Deerspring Park. It’s an active game that can be played by people of all ages. It’s a way to get more time outside with friends and family. The dated sand volleyball courts are rarely used and pickleball could be an excellent substitution. Presently, there are no public outdoor pickleball courts in Deerfield. There are no lights for the two existing tennis courts at Deerspring and there is no proposal for lights at the pickleball courts. There would be no way to play in the dark. The Deerfield Park District has done their homework and put together a well-researched, thoughtful, greenspace-friendly plan.

If you think pickleball would be a welcome addition to Deerfield and Deerspring Park, please let our community leaders know by signing this petition and/or giving public comment this Thursday, February 6 at 7:30 at Jewett Community Center.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PICKLEBALL IN DEERFIELD!
