The proposed development of townhomes and quadplexes at the corner of state route 81 and North Ola Road is inconsistent with established housing patterns in the area. In addition, the proposed single-family lots on one-sixth of an acre would also deviate from the existing character of the area.

We, the residents of Ola and east Henry County, oppose the development of multifamily housing in Ola. We respectfully ask Henry County to deny the request to rezone property to RS (residential suburban) off North Ola Road.

In 2019, adjacent property — now home to Publix — received zoning approval to construct commercial development and a half-acre lot subdivision. Minimum home sizes will start at 2,400 square feet. A second property off North Ola Road also received similar zoning that same year. We ask Henry County to approve the same R-2S zoning district and minimum home size for the property in question now.

Ola residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming zoning advisory board meeting on Thursday, April 14, at 6:30 pm. The meeting is held at the county admin building on Henry Parkway. Wear your Ola Green to represent the community! At this time, the rezoning request is not yet scheduled before the board of commissioners for a final hearing and vote.
