The Issue

Say NO to ALTO, whether it's the South or the North route! The proposed ALTO High-Speed Rail (HSR) threatens to squander over $90 billion of public funds for a project that merely aims to reduce travel times by 90 minutes. This is not a worthwhile trade-off, and it poses significant risks to our communities.

The construction of this rail line would severely disrupt all road connections and social structures that have been established in the communities along its path. Roads that people rely on for daily commutes, commerce, and connecting with loved ones will be severed, leading to increased isolation and economic difficulty.

But beyond the logistical nightmares, there's a devastating human cost. The aggressive stripping away of property rights through changes proposed in bill C15 strikes at the heart of those living along the routes, many of whom have cultivated their lands for generations. The expropriation laws being amended to facilitate this project are deeply unjust and will leave countless families in uncertainty and distress.

For the farmers whose land is their livelihood, for the business owners whose enterprises will be uprooted, and for everyone who cherishes the UNESCO biosphere and vibrant communities that are in jeopardy, this is a fight to protect our way of life.

It's not too late to protect our neighborhoods. Join us in saying NO to the ALTO HSR project. By signing this petition, you are sending a strong message to the decision-makers: prioritize the well-being and rights of the citizens over impractical and exorbitantly expensive infrastructure plans. Stand with us and save our communities! Please sign this petition today to voice your opposition and make a difference.
