Say No to the Break Up MPS Bill.
Wisconsin Republicans have introduced Assembly Bill 966 which would attempt to break up the Milwaukee Public School district into smaller districts. They also intend to introduce a school voucher program that would allow students to leave public school, and go to a private school if they choose. At first glance this may seem like just another option for parents. However, every time a student leaves a public school to go to a private school, the public school system loses funding. Private schools are not required to be accredited, nor are their teachers required to hold any sort of certifications. The average U.S salary of a private school head master is $226,923. They also have not grown in diversity. The demographic of private schools remains around 70% white, despite the growth in diversity among public schools.
They say there is no harm in breaking up the states largest minority school district, but this is a covert attempt to divide and defund the city of Milwaukee’s public school system.
