Dear Neighbours, 

The city of Markham has received an application to build a 13 story apartment building for a total of 146 new residential units where three commercial units now exist (2 Wignall Crescent and 5871 & 5873 Highway 7) 

The development as currently proposed does not make our community better. This application contradicts the usage of the land as it was intended within an established community. This application would destabilize the neighbourhood by simultaneously increasing the population and traffic in the area beyond what is permitted.  A residential building of this size will alter the character of our neighborhood, overburden infrastructure, necessitate reviews to existing school districts and lead to increased traffic in an already significantly congested section of Highway 7 and Markham Road. 

I urge you to be mindful of all the additional detrimental effects that accompany the proposed development, most notably, disrupting nearby ecosystems and wildlife, and defiling the character of the neighbourhood we chose to call home. 

I am opposed to this application and intend to fight it. You, too, have an opportunity to express your position on this application. Your participation in this process is meaningful and impacts the future of our community. Sign the petition to have your voice heard!
