Landowners are selling out to big business and transforming the community all around us. The profits may be high for the out-of-town owners but at a devasting cost to the community. These decisions being made for the Horizon 6 area will have long term negative effects. 

Currently on Window Rock Rd, one owner is proposing a 300+ unit condo. Not only will this development be the first step toward the gentrification of our neighborhood, but it will also destroy a large amount of the beautiful desert landscape. 

If we choose to do nothing, our pursuit of happiness and the agricultural roots we choose to embrace, will be swept away.  

If this land is allowed to be re-zoned to allow dense urban planning, then others will follow suit and begin the process of erasing those rural ties and buy up vulnerable lots to build their master development. There is already another 4 acre lot for sale that will no doubt be sold to the highest out of town bidder. 

If allowed to proceed on Window Rock Rd, it will be the first domino to fall and affect the entire Horizon 6 community and those around it. Lakeside Dr, Lake View Rd, Gold Springs Rd, Blue Canyon Rd, and Little Finger Rd will not be safe from savvy investors looking at our community as a hot spot for big city development. The toll this takes on the natural beauty of our community and the proud landowners within it will be devastating and continuous. Once condos are built here, next vacation rentals will dominate and bring down everyone’s property value. This is the domino effect. 

In time the majestic mountain and lake views will be blocked by the condos, and the current residents of Horizon 6 will be outnumbered by condo residents. The streets will no longer be quiet or safe for the activities we all enjoy (walking, horseback riding, etc).

We are asking the homeowners of Horizon 6 to act now and protect everything we love. Keep the city out of our community.
