Say NO to a 20 storey development in Bronte Village!
This petition had 591 supporters
Please sign our petition to ask the OMB to turn down the proposed development of a 20 storey condominium in Bronte Village at the SE corner of Lakeshore Road and East Street. This property is currently zoned for 2-4 storeys and residents feel there are already too many high rises South of Lakeshore. The Town of Oakville has already turned down this proposal.
The developer (Symgine) has applied for a zoning amendment to gain permission to construct a 20-storey building and has requested further amendments including, but not limited to, further reducing property line setbacks, minimizing required parkland and providing insufficient visitor/commercial parking.
(At least the older buildings in this area are built on large pieces of property with parkland and large setbacks.)
Our interest is in maintaining the atmosphere and spirit of Historical Bronte Village, without excessive traffic and obstruction of views and daylight.
This building belongs in Toronto, not at the gateway to Historic Bronte Village.
WE HEREBY REQUEST THAT THE DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED BY SYMGINE INC. BE REQUIRED TO CONFORM TO THE TOWN OF OAKVILLE ZONING BY-LAW 2014-14. WE ASK THAT THE OVERALL DESIGN OF ANY BUILDING CONSTRUCTED FURTHER RESPECT THE CHARACTER OF BRONTE VILLAGE AND THE IMPACT IT WOULD HAVE ON ITS RESIDENTS (LIGHT, SCALE, DENSITY), ESPECIALLY THOSE LIVING WITHIN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE SITE.
