Say NO to 18m 5G Phone Mast opposite Moordown Medical Centre

Say NO to 18m 5G Phone Mast opposite Moordown Medical Centre
Why this petition matters

This is to petition BCP Council to refuse permission for a 18m 5G monopole with 6 antennas and 4 cabinets, on the footway of Wimborne Road, adjacent to Moordown Medical Centre Carpark (Planning Application 23/09/2022) .
The 18-metre mast would tower above the surrounding buildings making it look out of place, intrusive and unneighbourly. The mast will dominate and degrade the aesthetics of the local area. This is an inappropriate location to install the mast due to the accessibility of many people attending the medical centre (especially those who may be disabled/visually impaired) which is hugely insensitive. A mast on the pavement could seriously increase the risk of a pedestrian stepping onto the road to avoid others. The mast would also be sited very close to the front and back gardens of the nearby residents. As well as this monstrosity creating visual clutter to an area of low buildings, it would most definitely be a dangerous obstacle to those accessing the footway.
The mast would have a detrimental visual impact and not be in-keeping with the character of this residential area. It’s excessive height and inappropriate siting could significantly distract drivers as they turn at the junction directly opposite to the surgery.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) together with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified all radio frequency radiation (of which mobile signals are a part) as “possibly carcinogenic.” The electromagnetic radiation used by all mobile phone technologies poses anxiety and stress about increased health risks, including developing certain types of cancer. Quite frankly, there has not been enough research to determine the exact extent of harm a 5G mast can have on human health. Can we be certain of the safety of this as yet fully tested technology?
Who will be monitoring and regulating the radiation emissions? How are the public to feel safe unless there is regular monitoring?
According to The National Planning Policy Framework :
• Planning policies and decisions should aim to achieve healthy, inclusive and safe places -section 8.91
• Planning policies and decisions should contribute to and enhance the natural and local environment-section 15.170
• The number of masts should be kept to a minimum and equipment should be sympathetically designed -section 10.115
• Policies should prioritise full fibre connections (as these connections will, in almost all cases, provide the optimum solution) -section 10-112
This application contradicts all of these.
I am sure there are more suitable locations to install this mast.
If you do not agree to this mast being put up in the vicinity of the surgery and our homes please sign this petition to make BCP Council and the telephone company cease with this unwelcome and unnecessary plan!
Thank you for signing!
