The issue

Member for Badgerys Creek, Tanya Davies, urgently calls on Premier Chris Minns and Deputy Premier Prue Car to assure Western Sydney that the vital Mamre Road Stage 1 Upgrade won't be axed.

As the first Labor Budget in 12 years looms on 19 September 2023, the community's unease grows. Under the previous Liberal Government, over $200 million was committed to this essential project, with $24 million earmarked for construction this year.

Yet, with the Minns Government's recent "Strategic Infrastructure Review", its future is clouded in uncertainty. Mrs. Davies states, “Western Sydney deserves better than broken promises. The Mamre Road upgrade is more than just infrastructure; it's our future."

Timeline Highlights:

2018: Advocacy begins for the upgrade.
Pre-2019: $220 million commitment from the NSW Liberal Government.
2020-2021: Stage 1 planning, investigations, and community feedback.
July 2022: Detailed design kick-off.
2022-2023: $200+ million earmarked for the next three years.
18 Nov 2022: Planning for Stage 2 starts with $10 million allocated.
2023: Construction set to begin.
Now: Upgrade's fate hangs by a thread under Minns Labor Government's review.
