Wyreema State School is one of nine schools across Queensland that has been identified for community consultation for proposed closure under the Department of Education’s School Viability Assessment procedure….in short, QLD GOVERNMENT WANT TO CLOSE OUR SCHOOL!
This is not an option and we need YOUR HELP.
Help save a quality education for our small group of 40 Children who attend and LOVE Wyreema State School.

Letter to
Minister for Education, Training and Employment, Hon. John-Paul Langbroek
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Hon. John McVeigh
Leader of a Minor Party Ray Hopper
I write this letter to support the Wyreema State School and stop the “proposed” closure under the Department of Education's School Viability Assessment procedure. We urge you to reconsider the selection of Wyreema State School for closure.
This school has provided quality education to many students over its 117 year existence. Today, the school provides excellence in learning to the 40 children who attend. With student numbers and learning results on the incline, it shows true potential for future growth.
Our location is one that offers security for children to grow and learn. The children can walk or ride to school and parents can rest assured that their children are safe. The school also caters for children with Intellectual and Learning Disabilities and it does so in a holistic manner that is accepted by all the community.
If the Wyreema State School is closed it will have lasting effects on such a small community like Wyreema. Parents will re-locate, new home owners will not consider and house values may decrease. Businesses in the area will also be affected.
I respectfully ask that you do not close Wyreema State School through this process.
