Petitioning Town of Brookhaven, New York

Save Women's Services -The Division of Women’s Services has not been included in the Town of Brookhaven’s 2013 budget

The office provides a network of on-site services to help women navigate through times of change or crisis. With the continued rise of divorce and domestic violence in Suffolk County more women are finding themselves as single heads of household. Closing this office in such a time of need is a tragedy for women. Women and families will be left without critical support in times of need.

Letter to
Town of Brookhaven, New York
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Town of Brookhaven, New York.

----------------
Save the Division of Women's Services

Since its inception in 1986, Women’s Services has served thousands of women and their families. In just the past three years, 6,500 residents were provided with much needed support by receiving the foundation required to stabilize families throughout their journey to self sufficiency.

The services provided by Women’s Services include:

•Information & Referral HELPLINE
•Support groups including: domestic violence, self-esteem, divorce/separation, couples support
•Dress for Success Brookhaven, a worldwide organization that has assisted thousands of women in gaining employment and has one of the only job retention programs in the nation
•Short term counseling service
•Community Partnerships with Debt Counseling Corp, NYS Small Business Development Center, Health and Welfare Council, Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Please let the Brookhaven Town Board know that the Women’s Services Division is critical to the ongoing support of women in Brookhaven and needs to be included in the 2013 budget.

Sincerely,
