Wagga Wagga City Council are seeking to change its long standing public art policy, This policy established the Public Art Reserve which was funded by a 1% levy on all capital works projects funded by General Revenue.
Council have placed the amended draft Public Art Policy on display which will limit the Public Art Fund receiving the first $50,000 raised annually from the 1% levy with the remaining funds going into a yet unexplained Community Works reserve.
This will slash on average two-thirds of the annual funds placed in the Public Art Reserve and sees the dismantling of what is both a sensible, sustainable and recognised best practice policy.
The draft policy and reduced Public Art Plan can be viewed here
