SAVE the trees along Princes hwy (Brunt rd) Officer
Why this petition matters
Many of the community were shocked and disappointed by the removal of mature gum trees along Princes Hwy near the Brunt rd intersection several weeks ago. Council said these were removed by the developer of the retail development further along Princes hwy for "drainage outfall pipeline" and they used existing Council permits for tree removal for the Princes hwy Brunt road intersection development.
Council have no plans to replant any trees let along mature trees, instead they have purchased offset credits for French Island.
MORE trees are set to be removed when funding is approved for the Princes Hwy/Brunt rd intersection upgrades.
These trees are valuable in many ways including:
- aesthetic value to the neighbourhood
- habitat for birds and other wildlife
- climate change i.e. keeping the road cooler
All of this and more will be lost
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK is likely the only way we can save the trees.
Please help by signing this petition and demanding council protect these precious trees during up coming road and land developments.
