Why this petition matters

Seton Hall University's Administration is planning to merge the College of Nursing with the School of Health and Medical Sciences. It is imperative that the College of Nursing continue to be independent. It is internationally known as a leader in collegiate nursing education and has many esteemed nursing leaders among its 10,000 alumni. When the move to Nutley was in the planning, a small group of alumni met with Senior Administration and warned against it for the very reason that the College remain independent and a part of the South Orange Campus. They were assured that it would remain independent. Three years later, Seton Hall is moving forward with stripping the College of its autonomy. Other nursing programs such as Georgetown University, saw a similar transition only to revert to an independent school. The College must remain independent to ensure the continuation of its 84 year history of excellence in nursing education and practice.
