Why this petition matters

Started by Shane Dobbs
- For 20 years the management of Wilderness Adventures has been operating the Satsop Center. Which included the renovation of all buildings in the beginning of our involvement.
- And for the last 15 years it has also been a base of operation for management of the Coho Campground for tooling, materials and equipment. As well as a temporary residence for the workers.
- The Satsop Center has been a base of operations for multiple agencies over the years such as USFS, WDFW, Firefighters, military and police for training.
- The Satsop Center has also been a host site for various youth and religious organizations for state, country and global.
- We have also been a host site for camping and personal events such as weddings, receptions, retirements, funerals and more.
- And we have been a local point for emergencies such as fires, injuries, Search & Rescue and vehicle break downs.
- The USFS has said that they are going to close the Satsop Center at the end of our current contract ending 12/31/2023
- We believe that the USFS does not completely understand the impact that this could have for the future and the community.
- If we are successful in stopping the closure, we want to continue to serve the local agencies, organizations and community as we have been.
- If we fail to stop the closure, then Wilderness Adventures will cease our partnership with the USFS and the operation of the Coho Campground.
