Save the Royal Victoria Hospital building!

The Royal Victoria Hospital is a very important place to the community of Folkestone and the surrounding areas.
The walk in centre which resides next to the building provides extremely good services such as blood tests, emergency appointments and physiotherapy but doesn't provide services such as emergency operations, maternity units and many other services.
To be provided with these services the nearest hospital is over in Ashford which not only has a long waiting time, but can be difficult to get to if you have to rely on public transport, have a low income or have severe medical issues which make it difficult to travel.
If this hospital was reopened it would benefit the community and NHS immensely as it would cut down on long waiting times in other hospitals, provide more jobs for the area and would also cut down on the long and dreaded wait of appointments.
Turning this building into flats would be a complete was're of opportunity and is not what the people of Folkestone want. If we can overturn this and stop it becoming flats/housing then it would benefit everyone. Turning this building into flats is not what the community wants nor needs. There are many other places in Folkestone and the surrounding areas where flats and housing can be created and it should not be done here!
We need your help, please sign this petition to help Folkestone get the hospital it desperately needs to help provide treatment which can make others lives better.
