Why this petition matters

Started by Gord Izumi

Regina City Council recently passed a motion to demolish the existing Downton City Library and never considered the environment, had no proper consultation with the public and the existing library already has a "heritage designation".

The building is an excellent example of mid-20th century architecture and the lead architect, Kiyoshi Izumi, was a prominent Saskatchewan and Canadian architect in the 50s and 60s.  To destroy the building is a significant loss of heritage and disrespectful in light of the treatment of Japanese Canadians during WW2.
