The Oak Chapel UM Hub started operations in October 2020 in partnership with Montgomery County, MD to meet the rising needs of the community due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, we serve food to over 700 families weekly between our on-sight distributions, home deliveries, and three off site distributions. We also provide diapers to over 200 clients monthly, social services are provided in partnership with Catholic Charities, and we  distribute COVID-19 testing kits and safety items.

The county Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) decided to close our hub on June 30th, 2022. This news came as a shock to the hub staff and community considering DHHS leadership and county elected officials have continuously affirmed that our hub would be funded for the next year. We write today asking for your support to keep the Oak Chapel UM hub open by signing this petition of support! 

If the Oak Chapel Hub closes, hundreds of people will go without access to these items necessary to meet basic needs.
