The Bombardier Mark VI monorails at Walt Disney World have been in service since 1991. They have been showing their age for several years now and even have become unsafe. Guests who stay at "monorail resorts" pay a premium for a service that is no longer a luxury with the inconsistent service. Disneyland had their old Mark V monorails upgraded in 2008 after being in service from 1986. After last week's incident with a door being open during a trip, it is time for a change. The current fleet has become inconsistent and unreliable. Disney executives are hesitant in funding the maintenance and upgrade of the monorail system and are even considering closing the Epcot line. The monorail is as much of an icon as Cinderella's Castle! Each and every person who visits WDW spends a large sum of money to fund things like this. Mark VIII monorails are a necessity to transport the estimated 150k monorail travelers each day SAFELY!
