Save The Fresh Youth Academy/ Gospel Mission Hall Community Building

Over 200 determined and indignant residents have signed!!

Camden Council are planning to turn a remarkable and historic building into two houses which they can sell.

The 'People's Gospel Mission Hall' (now called the 'Fresh Youth Academy') dates from 1982, and about forty years ago was donated by a benefactor to 'the people'. It is a treasure to the community, an ideal venue for a rare variety of activities involving people of all ages.

The medium sized hall has a stage and with exceptional accoustics
which are perfect for drama/dance/music performances and workshops. It is the only theatre space for many miles around and also boasts a large screen for showing films.

The building also provides fitness training for teenagers through to over 80s; study/training groups; community celebrations, activities which
include those who would otherwise feel isolated and lonely...

The building was refurbished recently (2014-15) to an excellent design and at considerable expense to Camden taxpayers. It is in sound condition.

Turning it into two houses would serve a few who could be accommodated elsewhere, whereas as the Gospel Hall/Fresh Youth Academy offers unique facilities for thousands.

We think it would be an act of senseless and unforgivable vandalism to
destroy it, and a deplorable waste of taxpayers money. We urgeCamden
Council to save the building for community use.

Please help us save this irreplaceable piece of heritage. Please ask you friends and other users of the hall to sign and lobby the council.
