I would like organizations to have stricter rules in place when representing black people or people of minority in advertisements soliciting for aid to help improve their situation. The use of impoverished images of women, children in distressing situations does not respect the basic human dignity which needs to be afforded to such individuals. In the UK for example, cancer or dementia charities do not show images or videos of individuals near the end of their lives to try and get the public to donate money for research into these conditions. Why should that be the case when it comes to Africans where you see children surrounded by tubes or drinking filthy water. You do not need to show this to prove a point or get people to donate. I am certain a way can be found around just as cancer UK has done. Please help me effect a change. Organisations such as Save the Children and Oxfam should respect the basic human rights of people who even though are at a vulnerable stage in their lives still need to be treated with respect and dignity.
