The Cherries is a residential home for children with severe disabilities/metal impairments, and currently provides a warm, caring, healthy, clean, and SAFE living environment for the children currently residing there. Unfortunately the local council seem to think the building itself can be used for a better purpose, and doesn't provide a 'homely' atmosphere. As a parent of a child at the cherries who visits regularly, I have to say that the cherries is the BEST place my child could be. They have EVERYTHING they need on site for the children, including a park with a zipline, sensory garden, cinema, and sensory rooms. The location is quiet, which is ideal. These children have extremely sensitive needs, and change is something  that really isn't taken well, and can cause a lot of upset. The staff and the children deserve to be able to stay on the site they have called home for many years. The children integrate with each other, which they will also lose. WE NEED MORE OF THESE SCHEMES, NOT ONE BUILT TO TERMINATE USE OF ANOTHER SITE!! Parents are suffering due to the lack of residential care for children in Weymouth. I feel fortunate that the cherries was available to my son, as the next closest option was Hampshire. 

The Cherries is not only a residential unit, but it's also a family with a huge heart. To destroy this would be tragic.
