Save The Chelsea Farmers Market
The Chelsea Farmers Market is one of the few remaining places in the borough where community and independent trade coalesce in a vibrant and relaxed public space - and now it is under threat of redevelopment.
Plans have been submitted to the council which would see the market, along with the historic Sydney Street block, demolished and replaced with high-rise residences.
We as a community must make our voices heard, working with the Royal Brompton Hospital to secure a place for the market in the new development to save this iconic piece of Chelsea history.

- Royal Brompton Hospital
We write to object to application PP/16/04366 and PP/16/04269.
Whilst we fully support the hospital in its resolve to provide updated and better facilities, we feel the current two proposals fall short in preserving the special character of this green oasis in the middle of Chelsea. The range of services currently provide by the existing users creates a lively local shopping experience, which should be well considered within the new proposals. We appeal to you to encourage revision of these plans.
There is currently a clear concern of overdevelopment and the provision of too many high priced apartments that will not actually be lived in, or actively contribute to the local area. We therefore suggest adapting the plans to accommodate more of a mix to include an updated version of the market that would continue to provide a valuable amenity to local residents.
