Save Strings and Young Bands

By cutting these programs, hundreds of young musicians will be left without a creative outlet, place to perform, and other musicians to perform with. It teaches personal responsibility as well as group responsibility; additionally, it has been proven that students who play music tend to score better academically. To cut the fourth through twelfth grade strings program would be to abolish a plethora of instruments that students can choose to learn (currently, over 100 students take part in stringed instruments), and to abolish lower level music programs (which also currently have over 100 students involved) is to slice music participation in upper grades; it takes practice and exposure to join higher-level groups.
