With this stunning church now up for commercial sale, we are looking to form a cross-community group to save this church from falling into hands that intend to use it for profit.
Please sign to show your support for keeping this amazing church for community use so that we might rehouse all of the projects that used to run for the benefit of the community.
Though now closed for Anglican worship, St John's is still open as St John's United Reformed Church. The street it is in was formerly Windmill Street, and it was changed when the church was built in 1860. The windmill used to stand on the summit of the hill where Ibstock Drive is now and opposite the junction with Junction Road.
There was a temperance coffee house in Windmill Street, run by a Sarah Worral. Also coaches owned by a Joseph Gardner ran from Windmill Street to Birmingham and Worcester.
