Save Rothwell & other Northamptonshire Libraries from Closure

This petition had 646 supporters

Rothwell's Library along with 20 other libraries in the county are in real danger of being closed.

Rothwell library is a vital part of our community. It serves many in our community from the youngest babies and children to senior citizens, jobseekers, mothers, students and those with disabilities to name a few. It is one of the best uses of tax payers money that is made available to most tax payers without discrimination. It is one of the unifying institutions in our town that brings together and serves our diverse community. It is "the" hub for information and education. It would be a tremendous loss to all our community and to future generations of our town.

Northamptonshire County Council have been told they need to find £115m savings over the next 4 years. As a result of this, the Library Service has been ordered to reduce its costs even further. While 15 larger libraries will remain open. Our library along with 20 others are in grave danger of being shut down unless we adopt what is vaguely being described as a "community managed model".
