Save Rocking Horse Rehearsal Rooms! Durham's musicians need a place to rehearse.
Why this petition matters

Durham City's only rehearsal rooms and recording studio for musicians is under threat, the landlords want to demolish the building for redevelopment. Rocking Horse is an important hub for the city's music scene and will be a huge loss to the city's cultural infrastructure. Durham has a rich musical tradition and needs facilities such as Rocking Horse to continue to nurture and encourage musicians in their development.
Rocking Horse provides a place for 30-40 bands a week to rehearse. Has recorded over 300 local artists, mentored 4 young aspiring sound engineers who’ve progressed successfully into the professional domain. Provided PA, equipment and sound engineering services for events across the city. With Rhythm Dynamics provided drum lessons for over 50 students of all ages from 6 years up. Provided audio services and voice-over recordings for television and radio, hosted several regular running music nights showcasing local bands at Durham venues. Created videos of local musicians, from live sessions up to music videos, provided a venue for local original bands to host small scale gigs, including recording 2 live at rocking horse vinyl albums.
This petition is an both an expression of opposition regarding the proposed demolition, and an appeal for assistance in relocation should the development be approved.
Rocking Horse needs to be saved, it is vital to the city's music scene.
