Pinson, TN is a small community in West TN with a historic school buildling at it's heart. The Pinson School was established in 1873, and the current buildling was built in 1928. Pinson thrived as a high school until 1956 when its upper grades consolidated with South Side High School. The Pinson School continued to be used as an elementary school until 1992. Notable alum of the school include singer/songwriter/actor Eddy Arnold. The buildling is currently being used by the Pinson Ruritan club and is used to house local meetings for the community.
Recently, a few strong winds and a violent storm took their toll on the roof of the Pinson school buildling. With the ceiling beginning to cave in, the JMCSS who owns the property is not willing to spend the estimated $79,000 to repair the roof of the building. Unfortunately, they had no insurance on the school building so they and the county comission are left with the decision of whether or not to demolish this south Jackson landmark.
Please show your support for this school and the community surrounding it by signing this petition and letting our county commission and school board members know that we are NOT okay with the demolition of this historic building.
